Daddy Would Be Good at Twitter
Long story short, there was talk on Twitter yesterday afternoon of good boys and bad boys — the fun kind of bad boys. I tweeted at a couple of fellow tweeters with something that my dad used to tell me back in my dating days:
Yeah, I know that dad-isms have been done to death, even to the point of a TV show coming out of a Twitter stream, but I think my dad would be one of those that people enjoyed if we could talk him into tweeting. Heck, he doesn’t even have a computer to check email on, so I don’t expect him to be tweeting anytime soon. Or in this lifetime…
Most of his short-and-sweet sayings — perfect for Twitter’s 140-character limit — came during my teenage years. Probably the time when I need them most, of course. Here are a few that I remember well:
- “Bad girls get good dates, but good girls get good husbands.” Of course.
- “It’ll feel better when it quits hurting.”
- “If you can’t do it by midnight, you don’t need to be doing it.”
- “Shoot to kill. That way if you’re off a little, you can still hurt him.”
- “You’re a smart woman, you can do anything you want.” Upon seeing my first tattoo…
I know there are others too, but my Friday mush-brain can’t come up with them right now. I’ll add them as they come to me. Oh, maybe I should just call him right quick…

What a great post, my dad had many witty things to impart as well! I miss him.
