“Blog Your Face Off?”
That’s what we’re doing today. And that’s what my t-shirt says. And the lady at Walgreen’s when I stopped by earlier wasn’t sure what to make of my tee. I told her I was headed to a bloggers’ party.
“Are you one of those couponing mommybloggers?”
“Um, no. I blog about food, pet photography and all types of online content.”
So many of us live in this big online world for the better part of each day — tweeting, sharing pictures, commenting, RSVPing for events, blogging — that we don’t realize what a small thing it still is to some (most?) people.
To the lady at Walgreen’s, a blogger is someone who scours the Internet for coupons, buys a whole cart full of shampoo and diapers for $3.75, and then shares those coupons with others who can do the same.
I’m glad we don’t all blog about food, pet photography and all types of online content. There’s plenty of Internet — and ideas — to go around.

Yes, I agree, there is plenty of internet to go around. And comes around it will. Do you have any coupons for Best Buy? @jmacofearth
I’m a couponing non-mommy blogger (www.brokeasaspoke.com) in my spare time.
I’m glad there’s enough internet for everyone, and that I’ve yet to meet someone that does the exact same thing as me. It’s one of the big reasons why I love blogging.
Agreed. And even when someone similar does pop up, there is beauty in our individual voices.
Years ago when I started blogging about my personal life, nobody I knew understood what a blog was and just said I was a nerd. Today when I say I’m a blogger, they expect I have a niche, and when I say “Nope, still just blogging about my life,” the same people who thought blogging was dumb years ago now think they’re the experts—and that I’m doing it wrong.
HA! Oh yeah, people want to put nice, pretty labels on things. And I’m sure the definition will shift and change again many times in the years to come. You just keep doing what you’re doing!
