Assembling a Project “Dream Team” for Content Marketing | Content Marketing Institute

August 27, 2010

When it comes to content marketing and content strategy, so many businesses — big and small — initially think that having an in-house employee handle it all is the answer. It’s not.

It’s a big undertaking; one that needs a dedicated team of individuals with a great balance of skills and interests to make the effort successful. The Content Marketing Institute agrees in their recent “Assembling a Project ‘Dream Team’ for Content Marketing” post.

The Miami Heat has Wade, Bosh and James. … Bringing together talent that meets the objectives of the project is key to long-term success. Having the wrong players in the wrong positions can put your organization on the sidelines.

Writer Angela Vannucci breaks it down specifically:

In summary, here’s a list of players you may need on your content marketing project team:

  • Project manager
  • Subject matter experts
  • Writers
  • SEO copywriter
  • Web developer
  • Designer

I might add one more position to the roster: the content manager/producer. Someone has to handle the day-to-day management of the content, getting it into the content management system and watching the words go live. That’s a lot of employees to hire. You might wanna call us instead!
